Meet the artist

Where the natural world opens inward.

Sophia Polizzi is a Richmond-based artist and educator whose work brings ecological awareness, spirituality and feminine energy into vivid, layered compositions.

Her studies include a 2024 BFA in Painting & Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University and graduate work in Art Education at VCU. Her practice moves across acrylic painting, graphite, charcoal, ink and mixed media.

Polizzi builds her paintings through careful sketchbook work, charcoal underdrawings and layered fields of blue. Natural forms and emotional landscapes become dreamlike spaces that reward a slower look. This August 2027 First Friday presentation brings that world to Black Iris.
